In the first issue, we meet Rook, Queensguard, who has tasked herself with taking the Queen, who has been transformed into a tiger, to the magical island of Isola, where the spell can be reversed. ![]() The above picture is the very first panel of Isola, and it should set the stage in your mind for just how amazing this comic is. ![]() Image Comics A brief retelling of the five issues of Isola Fantasy sometimes gets a bad rap, but the story by Brenden Fletcher, the art by Karl Kerschl, and the wondrous colors from Msassyk, not to mention the nifty lettering from Aditya Bidikar, have fully redeemed whatever doubts one may have about the genre. The colors are so crisp, the lines are so, so deftly drawn, and the story is one for the ages – evil curses, perilous quests, and rustic natural settings.
